Certified Yoga Teacher
I am a certified yoga teacher with 200 hours of in person authentic yoga teacher training. In my late 30's, I was obese, smoked cigarettes and was starting to develop serious health issues because of my weight and unhealthy habits. I began a wellness journey that starting with smoking cessation, diet and gym exercise. About a year and a half into this journey, my weight loss started to plateau but I still had more to lose. I decided to change my routine and leave my comfort zone to try a yoga class.
I am experienced in teaching different styles of yoga, whether during an in person private session or class setting we can explore what's best for your own well being.
Yoga is for Every Body
Size should not matter when it comes to feeling good. Yoga is for Every Body. All ages, colors, shapes and sizes are accepted here! There are no specific body type requirements, just willing to drop all judgement of yourself and others and come to your yoga mat. Abundant bodies are capable of a large number of things, and it’s important not to make assumptions about what someone can or cannot do while on the mat.
Yoga asana, the physical practice of postures, is challenging and rewarding. Sadly, for many generously bodied practitioners, class practice can also be an intimidating and exclusionary experience. This feeling of exclusion can mirror how some feel within society. Lean, ripped physiques remain the standard that media bombards us with and the body type men and women prefer in their male partners. Body shaming stems from the beauty, diet, and fitness industry, which is invested in convincing us that we are not good enough the way we are, and that we must change our bodies in order to be acceptable to others.
